The Center of Peace

The concept of this building was to create a center that revolves around the idea of peace. Peace, however is a vague term that can range from the inner peace within ones self, all the way to world peace between all the nations of the world. For this reason, the building I am envisioning will be able to provide for this complete range from ones self to world peace. It will be a space for people to find their inner peace and practice their preferred mode of achieving that peace, and for world leaders/representatives to meet in a space to discuss how to achieve this peace. The building will accompany people of all religions, nationalities, and classes. It will have worshipping sites (i.e Church, Mosque, Synagogue, Temple) for the major religions. 

 

However, not everyone considers themselves as a follower of a religion, and that is understood, therefore there will also be meditation spaces throughout the building for anyone who wishes to find a zen space. Next, I also plan this building to feel very open; this is so that no space, especially the entrance, would feel unwelcoming. These spaces would act as communal areas, spaces for events and vendors. I would like to find a solution for noise control. The building should also have spaces for classes such as yoga and other peace/calming activities. In addition, I imagine that the building should have a mental health center which people can enter if they believe they need the support. Next, the building will have offices for officials of every country where the main purpose is to attempt and solve minor issues and create a more peaceful world. Finally, since many schools create trips for their students to give back, the building could have an area where students from the schools in the region could visit and put together small gifts for people in less privileged countries. These ideas were all mentioned as they range from the idea of finding inner peace, to peace within a community, to world wide peace.
