The North Beach Frame is a youth center designed in North Miami Beach. The idea behind this project was to create a building that was able to control the natural elements of water, wind sunlight and rain, while also withstanding the test of sea level rise. The concept was therefore to create what we called "the new outside" where we wanted to recreate the feeling of being outdoors above ground level. In addition, we remodeled existing skate park under the building to be able to exist under water and filter water into the building.

With 22 foot high ceilings, a dynamic louvre system, solar power integration and a water filtration system, this building is able to fully function through the natural elements of the world.

When the louvres are fully opened, more sunlight will enter the building and the north eastern winds of Miami will cross ventilate the whole building. This will essentially give the sensation of being outdoors, while being 20 feet off the ground.

The existing skate park was remodeled to be incorporated around the building, as we wanted people crossing to get the feeling that you are able to skate around, within and under the building.
